International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), City of London
ICS - the principal international trade association for the shipping industry, representing shipowners and operators in all sectors and trades - is seeking a Technical Director to provide support to various ICS Committees, Sub-Committees and Panels, and represent ICS at IMO and other external fora. As Technical Director they will be required to take responsibility within ICS for issues or topics as assigned but with a focus on technical safety and environmental issues that impact on international shipping.
This is a rare opportunity for someone excited by the prospect of influencing the future regulation of the shipping industry, and contributing to the continuous improvement of its safety and environmental performance. The successful applicant will co-ordinate and develop ICS policies, positions and submissions on technical, operational, and environmental issues in conjunction with the relevant ICS Committee, Sub-Committees and Panels. Representing and promoting ICS policies and positions at external fora including the IMO. Provision of technical advice and guidance to ICS staff, members, associate members and regional partners. Acting as the coordinator of assigned ICS Sub-Committees and Panels. Technical oversight and contribution to the drafting of ICS publications. Coordination and prioritisation of duties in support of other ICS activities as assigned.
