The ICS are currently looking to recruit a new Technical Director for the London office.
Reporting to the Principal Director you will be responsible for leading the Marine departments technical stream providing leadership and guidance on current topics and projects. You will also act as a mentor and provide support to the Marine Department staff, leading teams for specific projects.
You will represent the ICS membership at the IMO as well as other international meetings. Acting as Secretary to ICS Committees and sub-committees, you will coordinate with the Chair in preparing meeting agendas, notes and minutes.
Strong analytical skills are required for this role; the ability to disseminate technical information on to members is critical, so strong communication skills, both written and verbal is essential. This pivotal role with many stakeholders allows you to use your diplomacy skills. You will have full involvement with members assisting with their enquiries and questions.
Applications are welcomed from those who are qualified as a Naval Architect, Marine or Mechanical Engineer with extensive shorebased experience. You will need to have excellent knowledge of SOLAS, MARPOL and other IMO statutory requirements as well as a good understanding of Classification rules. Detailed knowledge of GHG related matters is a critical requirement at this point. Experience of the IMO or similar environment would be preferred.
