Vandita was appointed Chief Commercial Officer of BHP in July 2019 based in Singapore. She  has global accountability for Sales & Marketing, Procurement, Maritime and for developing the Company’s view on global commodities markets and macro trends. Vandita is a member of the company’s Executive Leadership Team reporting to the CEO.  Vandita is also an executive Committee member for the Australian Japan Business Co-operation Committee. Vandita joined BHP in 2016 in the U.K. as Group Treasurer and Head, responsible for BHP’s structural financial risk, liquidity investment portfolio and corporate finance. As part of her accountability, she also represented BHP in the region with banks, institutional investors, sell-side analysts and Public policy stakeholders.

During 2018, she led the successful capital management program of share buyback and dividends of $10billion. Prior to BHP, Vandita garnered over  23 years of international experience having worked in a variety of executive roles in banking in India, Singapore, Japan and the U.K. Her banking  experience includes challenging mandates such  as Group Head of Capital Management and Markets, and following the2008 Global Financial Crisis(GFC), setting up Global Balance Sheet and Liquidity Management for RBS. Prior to the GFC, she undertook senior roles in Strategy and Corporate Development, Business Development, Commodity and Structured Finance and Risk Management. During her role as the BHP Group Treasurer, Vandita was appointed to the FMSB Board. FMSB (Fixed Income, Currency and Commodity Markets Standards Board) is a private sector led, standards setting body for the wholesale FICC markets.Vandita was presented with the Asian Woman of Achievement Professions Award in the U.K. in 2017.This award recognizes the contribution of Asian women in Britain, both professionally and as role models within their communities.

Vandita holds a Bachelor of Commerce(Hons) degree from Delhi University and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management(IIM), Lucknow. She was a Delhi University rank holder for her graduate degree and was  awarded  a CMC industry scholarship during her MBA.

Vandita is married, with a teenage son.
