Prevention of Oil Spillages through Cargo Pumproom Sea Valves, Second Edition
This edition was withdrawn in March 2022 by joint agreement of ICS and OCIMF as the guidance is no longer valid.
Now in its second edition, this book is a detailed study of the causes of oil spillages and includes a number of best practice recommendations to minimise the frequency of future spillages.
Oil tanker construction and operating practices have undergone significant changes brought about particularly by the entry into force of MARPOL 73/78. The recommendations contained in this guide are based on long-established practices and those concerned in the management and operation of oil tankers are encouraged to refer to them when reviewing or formulating operational policies.
Topics include:
- Description of Valve Systems in Use
- Reported Experience of Valve Types
- Sea Valve Monitoring
- Summary of Operating Experience
