ICS Director of Employment Affairs, Natalie Shaw, receives MBE from Princess Royal during investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle.
MBE awarded ‘for services to seafarers during the Covid-19 pandemic’.
Award is the culmination of nearly two decades of dedicated service within global shipping.
- New research from the Tyndall Centre at the University of Manchester highlights an urgent global need for investment in green fuels this decade to meet the Paris Climate goals.
- Report says shipping will be crucial in transporting green fuels, and shipments of ammonia and bioenergy could grow to the same levels as shipping of gas and coal today.
- 20 new large ammonia carriers must be built every year to meet potential demand, but investment in production and transport infrastructure is being held back by weak policy support with only 4% of current commitments actually being funded.
A report commissioned by the International Chamber of Shipping, written by researchers at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research at the University of Manchester
This new publication from ICS guides readers through the first step on the route to decarbonisation: preparing for compliance with the IMO regulatory framework, and in particular, the 2021 amendments to MARPOL Annex VI. It sets out plainly what the key regulatory changes are for shipowners, operators and managers and explains in detail the full range of additional technical and operational requirements which ships must now comply with.
The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), the International Ship Suppliers’ Association (ISSA), BIMCO and the International HazMat Association (IHMA) have collaborated to develop a new guide to help both shipowners and ship suppliers comply with both the current EU Ship Recycling Regulations (EUSRR) and the Hong Kong Convention on Ship Recycling (HKC) where ratification is anticipated next year.
This Industry Guidance is specifically aimed at clarifying the exchange of information between shipowners and suppliers through the supplier’s submission of the Material Declaration (MD) and the Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC). It will assist shipowners and suppliers in understanding and complying with their obligations with respect to MD and SDoC under the Hong Kong Convention (HKC) and EU Ship Recycling Regulation (EUSRR), reducing the administrative burden for shipowners and suppliers, and ensuring the provision of accurate information necessary for the maintenance of the Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM).
