Lia is a Senior Legal Advisor in the Legal Department, where she deals with legal and insurance related matters. She also advises on issues related to the application of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Lia has a strong academic background in law, starting with her undergraduate degree in Law from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She further specialised in International Maritime Law, earning both a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Southampton.

She is a qualified Lawyer in Greece with expertise in shipping law. Prior to joining ICS, she built a notable academic career, lecturing on law of the sea, global and regional shipping regulations, wet shipping liabilities, shipping contracts, and seafarers’ rights at leading universities in the UK.
