Angus has worked in the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry for 17 years across both import and export pathways. For the last 10 years his role in the Department focussed on conducting vessel inspections primarily on bulk carriers, assessing compliance across a wide range of terrestrial and marine biosecurity risks. In recent years he provided subject matter expertise on the development of the Department’s pre-arrival Maritime and Aircraft Reporting System and joined the Ballast Water Unit to apply his knowledge to operational policy issues related to BWMS and the regulation of ballast water. His most recent work has focussed on assessing and triaging non-compliance reports submitted by officers due to issues with the BWMS.

“In my role I get to bridge the gap between real world and policy allowing me to lead relevant policy development that will help protect our valuable marine ecosystems”.
