Marie-Caroline Laurent joined the MSC Group in October 2024 and leads the Group’s Maritime Policy & Government Affairs department as of 1st February 2025. She is based in Geneva and oversees the Group’s government affairs engagements on a wide range of global transport policy matters impacting both MSC’s cargo and passenger divisions, such as environmental regulations and public policy on trade and tourism.

Prior to joining MSC, Marie-Caroline was Director General for the Cruise Line International Association (CLIA) in Europe, where she led the cruise industry engagement with EU Institutions, European countries, and the wider cruise community.

She previously held leadership roles as a transport policy expert with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as well as other organisations focusing on Europe and international regulatory affairs impacting the aviation sector. She has also worked on cargo and security trade policy and served as a parliamentary adviser at the
European Parliament and as a senior policy officer at the American Chamber of Commerce to the EU.

Marie-Caroline sits on the Board of Directors as a representative of Switzerland for BIMCO, and as a representative of the Swiss Shipowners Association (SSA) on the Board of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS). She also represents the MSC Group on the Board of the Liberian Shipowners’ Council and the UK Chamber of Shipping.

Marie-Caroline holds a master’s degree in public administration from Sciences Po Paris (IEP) and second master’s degree in European policies from the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium.
