Joshua H. Juel, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Marine Commerce (CMC), brings more than twenty years of experience in marine operations, human resources, and regulatory affairs to the ICS. Mr. Juel has grown his career with Canadian, U.S., and international shipowners, in segments that include dry and liquid bulk, railroad car ferries, and cruise ships. 

Prior to joining the CMC, Mr. Juel served as Assistant Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Marine Operations for Algoma Central Corporation, a leading Canadian-flag shipowner and operator. At the same employer, he also previously directed all aspects of the Fleet Personnel function for domestic vessels, successfully leading the organization through the most challenging labour market in memory. Mr. Juel was also entrusted with the role of Company Security Officer (CSO) at Algoma. 

Earlier in his career, Mr. Juel was a manager for the marine division of the Canadian National Railway Company (CN), with a particular focus on Great Lakes Fleet and Compagnie de gestion de Matane (COGEMA), the former headquartered in Duluth, Minnesota and the latter in Matane, Quebec. Before that, Mr. Juel worked in the cruise line industry in positions of increasing responsibility, shipboard and shoreside, the most recent of which was with Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) as a Human Resources Director. 

Mr. Juel holds degrees from the Great Lakes Maritime Academy and Cornell University. He also earned his license as a U.S. Merchant Marine deck officer for vessels of unlimited tonnage, in addition to marine pilotage from Duluth, Minnesota to Cape Vincent, New York.
