About

The Cyprus Shipping Chamber (CSC) is the trade association of the shipping industry in Cyprus and was established in 1989, by 17 Founding Members. Today the Chamber comprises over 200 ship owning, ship management, chartering and shipping related companies. The main purpose of the Chamber is to promote the interests of Cyprus Shipping and to further the reputation of the Cyprus flag.

The Chamber also acts as a lobbying group for the promotion and safeguard of the legitimate interests of its Member-Companies, at national and international level. On the local front, the Chamber co-operates very closely with the Cyprus government in all shipping related matters.

Moreover, the Chamber operates as a roving ambassador of Cyprus Shipping through its membership and active participation at the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS,) the European Community Shipowners’ Associations (ECSA), as well as a member of the Cyprus Maritime Administration at International Maritime Organisation (IMO) meetings. As a result, the Chamber is able to offer its members a constant source of up-to-date legislative, technical and commercial information and advice on Shipping matters and more importantly, to operate as a lobby group for the promotion of the legitimate interests of its member companies, on a national as well as international level.

Cyprus Shipping Chamber and ICS

The Cyprus Shipping Chamber joined ICS in 1993 and has ever since been actively representing the Cyprus shipping industry. It promotes Cyprus’s positions on all ICS policy making committees, including the ICS Board, whilst supporting ICS’s efforts to represent the ship owning community at bodies such as the IMO.

ICS has been leading the way in shaping the future of the International Shipping Industry through its influential role, on all technical, legal, employment affairs and trade policy issues that impact shipping. It also provides a plethora of up-to-date information on the above matters, which are vital for National Associations to keep up with the ongoing industry developments globally. The Cyprus Shipping Chamber commits to continue its active involvement in the ICS and with its team of experts contributes to the ICS mission for an even more efficient, sustainable and brighter future for international shipping.
