Carl is a Master Mariner with 34 years of maritime industry experience both at sea on dry bulk, chemical, crude, product and LNG vessels, and ashore in commercial, operations, governance, and technology roles. Has held global leadership positions in BP, BG Group and Shell. Carl has a BSc(Hon) in Psychology and is a member of the British Psychological Society. He joined Shell in October 2016 and has shaped the plans that will deliver the next generation of value enhancement opportunities, through digitalisation, across shipping and maritime activities. He now leads the Shipping & Maritime Technology, Innovation and Digitalisation Group. Carl advocates an approach to technology innovation that will require a new way of thinking, being open to learning from other industry sectors, working with the maritime industry in a new and progressive way and forming stronger alliances with strategic partners.
