Emily is the Head of Publications.
ICS is both an author and a publisher in its own right, and publishes most of its own books. As Head of Publications, Emily makes sure the publications business runs smoothly and ICS delivers books to market on time and to the highest standard possible.
Emily works with the technical teams (marine, employment and legal) on the development, senior managers and industry experts on reviews (quality assurance), and the finance and commercial team on the growth of the publishing business.
She particularly enjoys working with the industry experts who help ICS develop the books, and who represent both our customers and our readers. Emily also oversees freelancers, including writers, editors and designers.
“I love producing books that provide real value to the reader – nowhere is this more apparent than in some of our landmark guidance books like the Bridge Procedures Guide and Guide to Helicopter/Ship Operations. Knowing that these books can really improve safety on ships motivates me at every step of the publications process.”
Emily has worked in publishing for almost 20 years, first in the academic sector before joining the maritime sector as an editor at the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF).
