Gregor works as the Senior Manager Nautical, within the Marine Department, at ICS.

He reports to the Principal Director – Marine,  and is responsible for the development and implementation of ICS policy on operations, safety and environment affecting international shipping. As head of the Nautical Stream, he provides management oversight relating to navigation, communications, search and rescue, and other operational matters relevant to his background as a senior Deck Officer.

I enjoy working at  ICS, as I have seen first hand how the work of ICS brings real benefits to seafarers on ships around the world.

Gregor is  involved with a number of intergovernmental organisations including the IHO, ITU, IALA and IMO, and

  • lead on the nautical publications in the Marine Department including the ICS bridge procedures guide and the helicopter guides.
  • secretary of the radio and nautical sub-committee.
  • member of the passenger ship panel.
  • member of the short sea panel.

Currently working on reviewing and assisting the IHO working groups on the next generation of nautical charts known as S-100, Gregor is also heavily involved in the global maritime distress and safety systems (GMSSS) updating framework within the IMO.

During his 10 years working at sea before joining ICS he worked first in the offshore industry on specialised vessels servicing the oil and gas sector, followed by seven years on passenger ships including cruise, roro/ropax and yachts.

Gregor is a master mariner with a degree in nautical science and a diploma in marine management.
