Mr. WONG received his Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1986.  After qualified as a Class I Marine Engineer in 1989, Mr. WONG joined the Lloyd’s Register of Shipping as a Surveyor of Ships till 1996.  During his time with Lloyd’s, Mr. WONG dealt with construction and machinery troubleshooting of ships and offshore drilling platforms, noise and vibration control as well as machinery efficiency measurement.   

Mr. WONG joined the Hong Kong Marine Department in 1997. He took up various posts in the Department including handling tasks for the construction of Government vessels; survey of seagoing ships; setting of ship safety policy and standards; local legislation to implement international maritime conventions; administration and formulation of the Hong Kong Shipping Register and seafarers’ related matters; as well as the Marine Department reform in recent years.   

Mr. WONG was appointed as the Deputy Director of Marine in September 2016 June 2023.
