Joint open letter in relation to no compulsory tolls or charges being introduced in the Strait of Hormuz

Earlier this week, the International Chamber of Shipping, alongside the Asian Shipowners Association (ASA), BIMCO, Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), European Shipowners | ECSA, INTERCARGO, INTERTANKO, and the @World Shipping Council (WSC), sent a joint open letter to United Nations Secretary General António Guterres and International Maritime Organization (IMO) Secretary General Arsenio Dominguez, reiterating our concerns regarding the potential imposition of tolls or service fees in the Strait of Hormuz.

BIMCO and ICS report warns of potential future shortage of officers

The Seafarer Workforce Report 2026 from BIMCO and the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) launched on Thursday forecasts that given the growing demand for STCW certified officers, there will be a need for an additional 113,735 officers by 2030 to operate the world merchant fleet.
