Guy Platten honoured with WISTA’s Man of the Year Award
• ICS Secretary General, Guy Platten, honoured with Man of the Year award at WISTA UK 50 Year anniversary event on Wednesday 17 July. • The award ceremony took place at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Headquarters in London. • The Man of the Year awards is presented to leader’s who have supported gender diversity and inclusion in the maritime industry.

Emanuele Grimaldi re-elected as Chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping
• Emanuele Grimaldi has been unanimously re-elected as Chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) during the Annual General Meeting in Montreal. • Mr Grimaldi will continue to lead the ICS on key issues in the maritime sector including decarbonisation, increased protectionism, seafarer safety, and digitalisation.

Industry leaders call on governments to recognise impact of increasing protectionism globally at leading Summit in Montreal
The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and the Chamber of Marine Commerce, Canada (CMC) convened industry leaders in Montreal on Thursday 13 June to discuss the challenges and risks to global trade at the flagship Shaping the Future of Shipping Summit. Top of the agenda were the critical issues impacting maritime sector including increased protectionism, global geopolitical conflicts, decarbonisation and future fuels, and the importance of seafarers. Industry leaders called on governments to recognise the negative impacts to global trade that increased protectionism is having.
Hong Kong SAR Government and International Chamber of Shipping commit to host high level summit, underscoring the importance of global trade
• Guy Platten and Lam Sai-Hung met in Hong Kong to establish plans for mutual collaboration and to discuss the future of shipping and trade. • The two organisations agree to host summit during Hong Kong Maritime Week in November 2024. • The summit will provide grounds for a high-level discussion that aims to build consensus and provide unique perspectives on critical maritime trade issues.
