Dr. Adrienne Buggs has served as the medical technical advisor for the United States Coast Guard’s (USCG’s) Office of Merchant Mariner Credentialing since 2010. She advises the USCG on the regulations and policy pertaining to mariner medical certification and on issues affecting the health and well-being of merchant mariners. Dr. Buggs is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Virginia School of Medicine, and the George Washington University School of Public Health. Prior to working for the USCG, Dr. Buggs served as a medical officer in the United States Army. Her areas of past practice include emergency medicine, community medicine and occupational medicine.
