Professor Anders Hammer Strømman obtained his Ph.D. from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in 2005, where he subsequently obtained a tenure position and qualified as a full professor in 2010. His academic journey reflects a dedication to sustainability, particularly climate change mitigation and circular economy.

Professor Hammer Strømman’s professional career has been marked by a commitment to advancing interdisciplinary research in the intersection spanning engineering sciences via life cycle assessment to climate change mitigation and transition sciences. These efforts have resulted in a substantial body of work published in reputable journals and publications. He is also a recipient of the Laudise Medal for outstanding achievements in the field of industrial ecology. His research papers and articles have become influential in shaping discussions and strategies related to both shipping and land transport.

Over the last few years, Hammer Strømman has been part of working group three of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He served as a Lead Author on the chapter on Transport in the report covering the Mitigation of Climate Change.

As of 2023, Professor Hammer Strømman holds leadership positions in several large research centers and initiatives related to the transition of the energy and transport sectors. In this role, he continues to lead and initiate new research addressing the sustainable transition of transport, covering both climate change mitigation and circular economy-related aspects.

In addition to his research contributions, Hammer Strømman is a devoted teacher and lectures on a regular basis. He has mentored numerous students and contributed to the development of the next generation of researchers and professionals in the field.
