After 22 years at sea, Capt. Belal Ahmed has had a successful career ashore managing and developing Singapore based tanker operators Western Shipping. Capt. Ahmed is now their Managing Director. Having worked closely with IMEC for over a decade, in 2019, Belal was appointed as Chairman of IMEC.

He regularly partakes in pay negotiations, assisting the secretariat in various training initiatives and was closely involved in setting up IMEC’s Cadet Program in the Philippines which has helped produce over 1500 graduates so far.
