Recent findings reflect an increase in drugs being smuggled into the Netherlands. Trends have shown an increase in attempts to smuggle large quantities of narcotics into Rotterdam specifically. They tend to be brought in on cargo ships coming from South American ports, hidden on board or within the cargo. Smuggling has additionally been found on board deepsea going vessels, hidden inside sealed (reefer) containers or near hold entrances and other publicly available areas on board the ships.
