Colombia

Colombia is both a major producer and one of the major global departure points for illegal drugs transported by sea. All ships visiting Colombian ports should be particularly vigilant. Organised crime is prevalent in many Colombian ports. The port of Cartagena on the north coast is commonly used by traffickers. This applies to both cruise ships and cargo ships. The western coastal area of Buenaventura is also a busy area for illegal trafficking. Caution is advised if transiting or visiting this area.
